Nigel Pickett, Chief Strategy Officer

Nigel Pickett is a seasoned industrial leader, healthcare innovator and chartered fellow of the institute of management, with a career spanning engineering, strategic consulting, and medical technology deployment across multiple continents and sectors. Previously CEO, as Chief Strategy Officer of MPM Health Ltd, Nigel leads the implementation of cutting-edge health solutions aimed at reducing inequality and improving access to healthcare in underserved regions across the UK and Ireland.

Nigel’s global perspective was shaped early in life through formative years in Kenya and Malaysia, where he witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of poverty and inadequate healthcare. These experiences laid the foundation for a career grounded in social responsibility, innovation, and transformation.

Trained in mechanical and production engineering, Nigel began his career in the UK coal industry, rising to Process Plant Manager at British Coal. He was an early champion of operational excellence and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards—successfully developing new fines treatment technologies and piloting innovations in coal pelletisation. He later led the restructuring of a timber processing company, introducing automated treatment technologies that improved efficiency and sustainability.

Following this, Nigel earned an International MBA from Cardiff University with a specialisation in Change Management and Strategic Marketing. He transitioned into international management consulting, where for over two decades he led high-impact transformation projects in banking, food, energy, mining, and infrastructure. His global portfolio includes business process reengineering, change leadership, and cultural integration across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

In 2009, Nigel joined SRK Consulting as a Principal Consultant, overseeing technical due diligence, feasibility studies, and pricing models for large-scale mining operations worldwide. He led development on critical energy projects such as Pakistan’s first open-pit lignite mine and integrated community health and cultural wellbeing into project frameworks. His work in Russia supported both public and private enterprises in implementing innovation-driven growth.

As co-founder of Legacy Hill Resources and Legacy Hill Technologies, Nigel pioneered a patented cold pelletisation process that significantly reduces carbon emissions in steelmaking — demonstrating his commitment to sustainable industrial innovation.

Today, through MPM Health, Nigel focuses on the strategic deployment of advanced medical technologies that address systemic health inequalities. As an advisor to SiGenex, he supports the company’s mission to democratise access to precision diagnostics and genomics, particularly in health systems that have traditionally been underserved. Nigel plays a key role in expanding SiGenex’s reach and impact; ensuring that hospitals and clinics across the UK and Ireland can benefit from its transformative diagnostic platform.
